Andrew Perkins

Research Group Leader

Professor Perkins is Head of Cancer Genomics at Mater Research within the Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Queensland. He is Co-leader of the Blood Cancer program of Brisbane Diamantina Health Partners, a SMO in Hematology at Princess Alexandra Hospital, an associate of ICON Cancer Care, and a Pathologist at Mater Pathology. He is an international expert in the genetics and biochemistry of transcription factors, particularly Kruppel-like factors (KLFs), and how they regulate blood cell differentiation in health and genetic disease. He has developed NGS platforms for diagnosis and monitoring of blood cancers including myelofibrosis, and is a principal investigator on international trials of JAK inhibitors.
